The Zoreda forest is the authentic lung of the Oviedo Council with more than 30 hectares of forest.
It was borned due to the industrial activity of the old Manjoya Factory, new spieces were planted over the original oaks and chest nut forest. The Zoreda forest is notable for its Atlantic type vegetation, where the oaks (Asturian Carbayo) and birches are abundant, it also has maples, chestnuts trees, beeches, hazel nut trees...This diversity has attrackted aswell several animal spieces like boars, foxes, badgers, squirrels, owls and a great variety of reptiles, etc ...
Along with the biological wealth of the forest we find the peculiar construction of the Villa of the Sela, built in 1930 by the Figaredo family; renamed today as Zoreda Forest Castle.
After long years of oblivion and due to some terrain recovery works it was recovered and was put up for sale by the town council on 2004.
The company Hoto Urocisa has developed since the moment of its purchase the project of this hotel resort which joins the preservation and restoration of this old villa knowned as the “castle” due to its tower with merlons. It has now been turned into a small luxury hotel, discreet and exciting; with modern facilities and a new building for banquets that has witnessed some of the most important events of the region from the moment of its opening.
